Fantastic French Toast #TeamHonk #GoodWork
#teamhonk have arrived in Accra as part of the @comicrelief initiative to raise awareness through the blogging community and obviously encourage people to give lots of money to improve conditions for people and vulnerable communities across the globe. Over the next day or so they will be visiting a bakery and @britmums pinterest theme today is bread too.
As bread is such a vital staple for so many as well as a real bonding tool for many this is my tribute to them, go girls:
Fantastic French Toast
- 1 teaspoon of butter or olive oil
- You need stale bread
- 1 egg whisked until is is an even consistent orange colour
- 2 tablespoons milk (full, semi, fat-free the choice is yours)
- Ground Black Pepper
Optional:
a sprinkling of dried oregano, fresh chives, parsely, perorino or cheddar
You need to:
- Melt the butter/oil in a frying pan
- Dip the freshly cut bread in the egg (that’s both sides)
- Sprinkle a fresh or dried herb or a cheese onto the eggy bread
- Add the bread to the frying pan and flatten to make sure it is cooked evenly on both sides
- You will have flipped it so it is cooked a lovely golden, caramelĀ colour on both sides
- Remove from the pan and serve with a little dollop of Tomato Ketchup or if you are going for that premium edge Liberty London Girl recommends Marmite thinly and evenly spread. I’ve tried it and as much as I love Marmite it’s not for everyone as an extra topping!
Enjoy!
