The Knackered Mothers’ Wine Club
Most people buy wine in a rush without thinking.
Through Crumbs Brilliant Food Blog I found a link to The Knackered Mothers’ Wine Club blog. It made me laugh. A club where you don’t have to dress up, meet anyone new or pretend to be different from how you are sounds like heaven. The Founder, Helen is a Wine Buyer/Consultant who tries out different wines available at high street prices i.e. tend to be under a tenner and then recommends the best and what to eat with them on her blog. Genius for those of us who are too tired and uninspired to choose but still have the ability to enjoy and appreciate the finer things in life. The blog is also an extension of musings on her life think Bridget Jones but not as desperate with kids and husband in the background a commentary about what life is like for lots of mothers.
Helen will recommend wines for specific recipes if you tweet her @knackeredmutha. However, don’t think this will last long as she will be inundated. I tweeted a request for a match for my Macaroni Cheese Recipe and she came back quickly with suggestions for Australian Riesling from Clare Valley. Through this I’ve discovered a whole new world that doesn’t need to include the words Sauvigon Blanc. I’m now wondering what goes well with Fish and Chips, Parbat Lamb and Chicken Noodle Soup.
It’s funny, insightful and incredibly useful (almost like Recipe Rifle but just for wine). You can buy the book via Amazon or all leading independent Bookstores or click the link below and it will take you to Helen’s site.
